At Gather, students research deeply, locating pertinent rather than just relevant information. They want to find all the information they can that relates to their particular question.

Students should use deep resources, such as the relevant online databases. Questia is an excellent database, as it provides information at several levels, from overview to complex.

Make available and encourage the use of note-taking grids and/or notetaking software, such as Easybib, Google docs or Evernote. (Ban those Bird Units by Loerscher has scaffolds for many types of inquiry questions)

  1. Gale.com appears to be defunct now but has been superseded by gale.com. Also the settings for replies here seem to have their default set to capitalising the first letter of every word.
